Dental implant surgery aftercare
Bleeding and swelling control, food choices, oral hygiene and rest after dental implant surgery.
To support implant success and a smoother recovery, follow these recommendations:
- Bleeding control: Hold sterile gauze in place with gentle pressure as directed by your dentist.
- Reducing swelling: Apply a cold compress intermittently during the first 24 hours.
- Eating well: Eat soft foods that are cool or lukewarm, and avoid hard and hot foods.
- Oral hygiene: Continue brushing carefully and do not touch or disturb the surgical site.
- Medication: Take prescribed medication exactly as directed.
- Avoiding tobacco: Smoking and hookah interfere with healing; avoid them during recovery.
- Rest: Avoid strenuous exercise and intense physical activity for several days.
Important: Contact your dentist if you experience uncontrolled bleeding, fever, increasing swelling or severe pain.
Following implant aftercare instructions plays an important role in healing and treatment success.
